Parents learn a full body massage for their pre-crawling baby over the course of three classes. Infant massage helps enhance and strengthen the relationship between a parent and baby through nurturing touch. When massaged regularly, parents often find that their baby sleeps better, fusses less, and gains more weight. And they often report feeling more comfortable and confident in their ability to care for their infant, understand and respond to their baby’s cues, and a stronger bond with their baby. The class includes parenting information, supplemental materials, and massage oil. Learn more about our upcoming class.
Swedish massage relaxes muscles through pressure applied to the muscles and joints with soothing strokes returning blood to the heart. This increases oxygen flow and releases toxins built up in the muscles. Deep tissue massage works the deeper muscles to release tension in the body, usually chronic tension. This is done with slow strokes and concentrated pressure on the tense area to remove toxins and loosen muscles. Deep tissue massage can result in soreness for a day or two following the massage.

Shiatsu is a form of acupressure where the practitioner applies pressure with the thumbs, fingers, and palms to specific areas of the patient's body along the meridians to help unblock energy blockages, relieve muscle tension, calm the nervous system, reduce blood pressure, improve blood circulation, strengthen the immune system and much more.

Fire cupping is a 2,500-year-old method used to increase the circulation of energy and blood. This treatment is used to help ease breathing difficulties such as asthma, cough, and chest tightness. Fire cupping is also used to treat cold and flu symptoms, gastrointestinal difficulties, menstrual pain, neck and shoulder pain, low back pain, and sciatica. A vacuum is created by air heated by fire in a glass cup placed flush against the patient's skin. As the air cools in the cup, a vacuum forms that pulls up on the skin, stimulating the acupressure effect. The cups are usually roughly bell shaped with a capacity of about 4 fluid ounces. The technique I use involves placing a small amount of oil on the area, heating the cup and placing it against the skin to create a vacuum. I then slide the cup around the area to pull blood and toxins to the surface of the skin. Small reddish/purplish spots often appear during a session and fade over the course of 3-5 days. Many people enjoy being fire cupped as it is neither painful nor dangerous. The sensation may feel like your skin is being pulled tightly and you can feel the suction. The jar will feel warm when it contacts the skin and when the jar slides over your skin it may be sensitive but not uncomfortable.
There is no additional cost for this treatment. It is used in conjunction with a Swedish or Shiatsu Massage and lasts about 15 minutes. Online Gift Certificate Online Booking
Moxibustion is the application of heat to acupressure points and is one of the oldest and most effective forms of oriental therapy. It is a technique that originated in China and was introduced to Japan more than a thousand years ago. There are two different types of moxibustion: direct and indirect. Both direct and indirect methods create heat by burning moxa, an herb derived from drying the underside of the mugwort plant's leaves. Direct moxibustion is applied by using the fingers to roll a small amount of moxa into the size of a sesame seed or half of a grain of rice. This piece is then placed on the skin at an acupressure point and burned with a special type of incense. The result is an intense, penetrating heat that stimulates the acupressure point involved without being uncomfortable for the patient. Direct moxibustion achieves clinical effectiveness through its cauterization (burning) effect and its deep penetrating heat. When moxa burns the skin, it causes an elevation in blood cell counts (especially that of white blood cells). This cauterization effect strengthens one's immunity. Also, the burning of moxa directly on the skin produces a deep, penetrating heat that is very effective in reducing pain and inflammation.
